There is nothing quite as magical as a tree house. It brings back memories of childhood summers, playing hide-and-seek, and evenings spent reading ghost stories with a flashlight.

And while most of the little huts up in the air are long gone, some tree houses are experiencing a second life. Its owners repurposed them, added space and sometimes even Wi-Fi, and are renting them out on popular online accommodations renting service AirBnB.

Vanity Fair put together a great photo gallery of the most popular ones, together with detailed descriptions and some fun stories about their builders. Click through our slide show above to see some of our favorites, and then head over to Vanity Fair to see the rest and read the stories.
