The Pelican Studio

An Amsterdam store with Miami vibes

Finding the shopping landscape in their city of Amsterdam lacking, a group of friends decided to do something about it and take matters into their own hands. Theodoor Kuster and Jelle Lispet, the two founders of fashion agency Hopes & Fears, got together with Leonardo Belloni and Daan Bonsen, owners of popular Amsterdam night spots Marktkantine and Panache and opened The Pelican Studio.

There, they sell an eclectic mix of European high fashion and street wear brands for women and men like Maison Kitsuné, Wood Wood, and Carin Wester, as well as shoes, accessories, and fragrances. There is also a juice and coffee bar that serves small bites to eat.

Framework Studio is responsible for the gorgeous interior design of the store, which is a modern twist on ‘Miami in the 1980s’.

In addition to the regular store, a pop-up area offers a constantly changing selection of products from different brands. And above the store, there is a 140 square meter big studio space available to rent for events and photo shoots.

The team behind The Pelican Studio promise that their store is just the beginning. They are planning to build a new ‘creative shopping area’ around Raadhuisstraat. Fingers crossed!
