Animal prints, elaborate metalworks, a color-palette between earthy tones and bright hues: Coup d’Etat in San Francisco isn’t your average furniture store. The shop started out selling to interior designers and decorators who would outfit the houses and apartment of their affluent clients. But in the last years, the shop’s focus has shifted and today, they sell directly to walk-ins and curious furniture shoppers (San Francisco’s young, wealthy techies certainly play a role in this).

Even if the items here are out of your budget make sure to pass by the shop in Rhode Island street, the showroom is a veritable treasure trove of beautiful things. A visit here almost feels like being in a gallery or museum. Coup d’Etat sells both vintage finds that they carefully restore as well as their own line of products called Coup Studio.
